d1 recordings mark their 35th release with eamonn doyle s >red shift< ep. following on from his recent >ghost of the machine< release on sweden s hertz recordings, here he lays down two more slices of extremely deep bass driven techno aimed at the more discerning dance-floor. the 12-minute title track >red shift< is built around a deep rolling sub bassline with layered orchestral strings used subtly throughout. the flip sides >winter sun< arrives with more shimmering strings, this time underpinned with a crisp 909 backbone and lifted with some rich and soulful lead string lines. this release is part of the d1 limited editions series. vinyl runs are strictly limited to 300 copies, after which the ep will only be available digitally. the red shift ep has already caught the ear of many of the world s leading producers with dj support coming from detroit legends dj bone, claude young, octave one and also mark broom, laurent garnier, rennie foster and kan shinomura

when iridite started out they really wanted it to represent a wide selection of electronic music - at the time, many of the bigger labels (and many independent ones too) seemed content to pigeon hole everything, generating sub label after sub label, each with its own micro-scene or genre. over the years we feel we ve done a pretty good job of steering clear of the obvious but we were still lacking a little in one important area - house music. although >ga< isnt straight down the line standard house music, it s instrumentation, simple repeating bassline and beats give forward motion that fits nicely with a more old school version of house along with some percussive vocal stabs and eventually, a huge synth string climax- like a cross between early ron trent, fingers inc and kenny larkin. the b side gives us two tracks from one of the most talented young producers working in the field today - jamie greer, who s tha poke guise gave us one of the highlights of ir004 (uncommon sense), moves >fall fwd< in strong style with his unique take on the (original) detroit sound - remaining completely individual, his sound is instantly familiar and yet never derivative or tired. both tracks have the energy to survive on the dance floor but the subtlety and depth to bear repeated listening at home - proper techno

first in series,ep one starts out with an edit by darshan jesrani of an 80s disco jam stripped down and reworked for optimum dance floor bounce. path is an obscure break which has become a favorite of danny krivit, xpress 2s diesel and others. side b features an afro disco obscurity called run which has been reworked by kane into an uptempo fela at the disco vibe with heavy reverb kind of in an early idjut/u star vein. the ep closes with um spam. culled from several japanese sources, a sweet balearic vibe pervades throughout the track

there s no need to introduce these two as we all know what happens when they get down together on this label. massive massive quirky electro here with >the truth< proving just how cutting edge these two are.
